‘Govt must investigate Musa Hassan'

PETALING JAYA: The government should initiate investigation against former IGP Musa Hassan  over claims of his alleged triad links, his alleged role in undermining several senior police officers as well as alleged abuses of power during his tenure as the police chief.

Making this call today, former MACC advisory panelist Robert Phang, said only such an investigation, or even perhaps a royal commission, would reveal the truth about Musa.

“Musa has no sense of loyalty to the organisation that has given him his livelihood and his lifetime career.
“As a rule-of-thumb, I will never trust an individual who badmouths his organisation, much less an organisation which he had helmed for four years,” said Phang.

Phang was referring to Musa’s revelations earlier this week that the police force had been infiltrated by criminal elements and that the current IGP Ismail Omar was weak in heading the police force.

He also claimed that there had been political interventions, including from the Home Ministry, even during his time as the IGP. He said the presence of criminal elements was the reason for the rising crime rate in the country.

Coming to the defence of the police force and Ismail, Phang said the crime statistics had increased under Musa’s tenure and the situation had only started to turn around after his retirement in 2010.

“If truth be told, Tan Sri Ismail Omar, the current IGP has now managed the Herculean task to return crime rate to the pre-Musa Hassan time.

“Thus Musa’s attacks against Ismail is clearly unwarranted and below the belt. The current IGP has managed to clean up the mess left by his predecessor, both in terms of crime rate and in terms of restoring the morale of the police force.

“What I see before me is that Musa has failed as a leader when he was the IGP, and currently lacks the humility to comprehend just that,” said Phang.

‘I remember history’

Phang, a member of the National Crime Prevention Foundation, also revealed his knowledge on Musa’s contract extensions as the national police chief.

“I am an old man, and I remember history. Musa says that after he clashed with Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein on his powers as IGP, his contract was terminated. That is a lie.

“The truth is that Musa had his contract extended twice. He was so cunning that he placed people who can pose no threat to him in the succession line of the PDRM.”

He added that Musa had also ensured that those who can succeed him will retire before him, and claimed that Musa had a mercurial rise to become the IGP by “fixing people up”.

“There are still people from the force with enough knowledge about all these. Some had been sidelined, others faced trumped-up charges, and one even had prepared a statutory declaration to reveal the truth,” he said.

Warning to PKR

Phang also expressed bewildrement over PKR’s alleged role in bringing Musa back to the limelight despite all this while claiming that he (Musa) had played a major role in Anwar Ibrahim’s persecution in both the sodomy charges.

“If Musa is backed by PKR, then I must express my utmost disappointment that PKR appears to be a desperate party.

“Let me remind PKR that its very existence came about after Anwar’s black eye incident. Has PKR forgotten that Musa had tried to fabricate medical reports that the injuries were self-inflicted?”

He said that PKR should disassociate itself from Musa because “supporting his cause will mean that the leadership of PKR has no principles”.

He said the party should ask itself why Musa was now attacking the goverment whereas he was once its key perpetrator.

The PKR link is being made as Musa’s press conference was called by a newly formed NGO called Malaysian Crime Watch Group (MyWatch), believed to be backed by the party and helmed by the party’s mid-level leaders. Musa is the patron of MyWatch.

Orang bisnes tabik polis

I refer to the article written in the Utusan Malaysia dated 23rd  January 2013 by Y.Bhg. Dato’ Ahmad Faris expressing the confidence and the recognition on the performance of the men in blue uniform under the leadership of IGP YDH Tan Sri Haji Ismail bin Haji Omar and DIGP YDH Tan Sri Kahlid Bin Abu Bakar and his good team of PDRM Officers.

I congratulate Dato’ Ahmad Faris for taking the painstaking efforts to convince and pacify the foreign investors that the situation resulted by numerous of social rallies which have caused direct and indirect concern of the situation in Malaysia.  In his said article, Dato’ Ahmad Faris clearly highlighted the effectiveness and professionalism of PDRM in handling these rallies, very successful and amicably carried out.  I think the Rakyat will agree with Dato’ Ahmad Faris that PDRM should be congratulated and recognized in their performances under the most adverse situation and conditions.

Thank you Dato’ Ahmad Faris, for highlighting it and Syabas to PDRM.

Keep it up PDRM.

May God bless our country.

DATUK Ahmad Faris Abdul Halim, 49, seorang ahli perniagaan masih ingat lagi insiden 28 April tahun lepas apabila ibu negara ‘dihenyak’ perhimpunan Bersih 3.0.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH - DO NOT HIT BELOW THE BELT!!!

PRESS STATEMENT BY:-
TAN SRI DATUK ROBERT PHANG MIOW SIN
Justice of Peace
Chairman – Social Care Foundation

16th January 2013

This is an open letter to urge A-G Malaysia – Chief Justice of Courts Malaysia and Bar Council President to sincerely probe into the article by a PERKASA Writer.

Sometime ago, Free Malaysia Today reported that a PERKASA writer (supposedly one Zainuddin) launched a character assassination against Justice VT Singham by questioning his sexuality, integrity and honesty. In fact, it was such a demeaning article that I myself wonder about the mental health and state of the writer.

It is not surprising as PERKASA never ceases to amaze us time and time again with their maligned thinking. What perplexes me the most is the deafening silence of political leaders and all legal practitioners with regards to this issue.

Why does our Attorney General choose to remain mum on this unwarranted attack on a Judge? Is it because he is a judge who is known to have been liberal and just in any given circumstance? The A-G, by his silence clearly seems to affirm the thoughts of the “disturbed” PERKASA writer and is also ignoring his duty as stated in the Constitution.

Nazri Aziz as the de facto law minister has got to voice out against this absurdity. He cannot blanket his thoughts to himself in the name of politics. It is his duty to respond or for the matter, criticize such irresponsible postings about a judge. Why it is that both the A-G and the de facto law minister choose not to exercise their duties remains a million dollar question.

The lowly article clearly reflects the extremist mentality that PERKASA has been preaching for years. How can you label a guy for being single? Are all single men gay? Does this reflect the transformation to a liberal thinking society that the PM is trying to initiate?

I also strongly urge the Bar Council and its president Lim Chee Wee and Social Activist/Reform Datuk Ambiga to stand up for Judge VT Singham. I am perplexed at their rather low key manner in tackling this situation. It is in total contradiction to their take on national issues recently. Why they choose not to protect one of their own is beyond my comprehension.

I am also appalled with MPs and politicians because they run to Judges when they seek justice in court but when Justice is under attack, they choose to be conveniently and hypocritically silent. They should not in future bring their grouses to court.

Mahfuz urges Agong to call Parliament session

PAS vice-president Mahfuz Omar has urged the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to call a parliamentary special session for His Majesty's government and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to clear the air over the revelations made by Deepak Jaikishan over his role in the retraction of the statutory declaration.

Mahfuz (right), in calling for the special session, said he will seek an appointment with the Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim to submit a memorandum for this purpose.

"I hope the Agong will grant me an audience and permit in calling the special parliamentary session before Feb 25, as after that I fear the parliament may be dissolved.

"I feel it is necessary for Najib to explain the role played by his younger brother in retracting the first statutory declaration by  P Balasubramaniam, which was allegedly facilitated by Deepak," he said, adding he had faxed a letter to the Agong’s private secretary this morning to seek the audience..

The Pokok Sena MP finds it surprising that since the revelation was made by Deepak, neither the government, nor Najib have reacted to his claims.

As to the Motorola issue, the contract was signed in 2008, I was only hired in 2009. How would it be possible for me to answer for something before my time? In terms of MACC, I was never booted out, I made it a point to resign in order to facilitate MACC's investigation into my case, any doubts can be confirmed with MACC's current Chief Commissioner Datuk Abu Kassim.

I would also just like to reiterate pertaining to my suit against the ex-IGP, in the event that the court goes in my favour, all proceeds will go to charity, I do not want a single cent. Thank you very much for the comments and as always, have a nice week ahead.

Robert Phang sues Musa for RM100m

PETALING JAYA: Former MACC advisory council member Robert Phang has filed a RM100 million defamation suit against ex-IGP Musa Hassan for statements insinuating that the former had links to the underworld and had interfered with the workings of the police force.

Speaking to newsmen after filing the suit at the Shah Alam High Court registry, Phang said he decided to go ahead with the suit after giving Musa eight days to prove his allegations that Phang had a hand in the wrongful transfer of a senior police officer.

Phang said the suit will also restore his integrity and to clear the confusion that the Royal Malaysian Police Force (PDRM) was affiliated with gangsterism, as alleged by Musa.

He is suing Musa for a making a statement to the press on Dec 12, 2012. Musa had attacked Phang personally at the press conference, alleging that Phang had interfered with police personnel movements and was linked to criminal activities.

Phang subsequently sent a letter of demand to Musa, asking the former IGP to stop defaming him. The legal suit is a follow up to the letter which Musa did not respond to or comply with.
