“只要拿出诚意为华社和华教谋求发展和福利，

不管黑猫白猫，我们都应支持！”

只要是真心诚意保障华社前途、保护华文教育发展出力和作出贡献的华裔候选人，不管黑猫白猫，我们全体华裔选民都应该大力支持，但我们更要警惕那些口惠而实不至的候选人，为免这类人拖累华社和华教的进步！

每一届大选，华文教育必定会成为课题，各阵营作出了一项又一项的承诺，但在选举之后华校依然必须在高压政策中挣扎求存。尽管我们在这一届全国大选，看到了两个阵营将“承认”和“接受”统考列入他们的竞选宣言，但若国家核心教育政策一日不改，我只能对华教未来的待遇保持审慎乐观。

两个最大阵营的竞选宣言所阐述的统考课题，似乎尚有许多保留，因此，我呼吁两边都拿出最真挚的诚意对待华教课题，而不是敷衍了事。双方阵营应该废除教育法令中 “统考是内部考试” 的说法，才算是实际的保障，也让统考能够和剑桥A水平考试一样，有更大的发挥余地。

随着高庭于2018年4月6日判决关丹中华考统考合法，而且无需预先依据1996年教育法令第69（1）条文取得考试局总监的书面同意。既然‘祝福’和‘默许’是有效的，那么独中统考是否从此以后就可自由开放给60间独中以外的学生参加？如此解读，上述法令条文是否就从此变的无关紧要，因此应该被废除。

我们都知道，当年政府设定有关法律，目的便是试图限制华教。既然已经有了上述判决，各参加选举的政党，尤其是国阵和希盟更应该拿出真挚诚意，承诺把不合理的“统考是内部考试”限制去除，才是真正保护独中。

此外，高庭判决是否就已经凌驾于法令之上？教育部长是否还可以依据有关条文执行法令所赋予他的权力？为了令广大华社安心，竞选的政党应该承诺废除相关不利华教的条文，无论那一边能够作上述宣布，我必定拼老命的支持，甚至为他们宣传助选！正如邓小平所说，不管黑猫白猫，能抓到老鼠的就是好猫。

董教总也应该根据法庭的判决，加大力度争取相关法律条文的废除，以一劳永逸应该争取的目标，而不是抓住一个法庭判决而沾沾自喜，否则，我们是否都有掩耳盗铃之嫌？一直活在侥幸心理之中？

当相关法令条文废除了，一旦突破了封闭性，统考不就可以比拟剑桥校外考试，而统考考试局也可以剑桥校外考试机构作为发展蓝本。今天的剑桥考试局是独立于剑桥大学的考试机构，它甚至也提供各类校外学位课程，希望董总和统考能够有朝一日达到如此的成就。

REDtone posts RM663,000 net profit in Q3

PETALING JAYA: REdtone International Bhd saw a net profit of RM663,000 for the third quarter ended Jan 31 compared with a net loss of RM3.62 million a year ago, mainly due to higher gross margin in managed telecommunication network services, coupled with lower operating expenses for the quarter.

For the quarter under review, the group reported RM27.3 million in revenue, which was 27.1% lower than the RM37.43 million reported in the previous year corresponding quarter, as managed telecommunication network services segment contributed lower revenue in line with lesser project activities.

For the nine-month period, it posted a net profit RM3.06 million against a net loss of RM7.41 million a year ago, while revenue fell 24.8% from RM115.14 million to RM86.63 million.

Given the macroeconomic outlook and the prevailing economic conditions, REDtone expects its operating performance to remain challenging for the remaining quarter of the financial year ended April 30. However, the group will continue with its focus on measures to improve operational efficiencies to improve profitability in the core businesses.

It also foresees improved contribution from projects in the pipeline in the managed telecommunications network services segment.

Ex-MACC adviser slams Nazri-MCA ‘good cop, bad cop' routine

Former MACC adviser Robert Phang has likened the ongoing spat between MCA and Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz to a "good cop, bad cop" routine, intended to stir up racial sentiments ahead of the coming election.

Phang accused both MCA and Nazri of being complicit in attempts to tar billionaire Robert Kuok, as part of a "politically-motivated and premeditated" ploy to create animosity towards the Chinese Malaysian community.

He said Nazri had perpetuated unfounded allegations against Kuok, which in turn allowed MCA to portray itself as both "protector and defender" of the community.

"The recent attack against Kuok, led by Nazri, reflects the ruling coalition's desperation to remain in power, at all costs," he said in a statement yesterday.

Describing Nazri as a "loose cannon," Phang said it was wrong for "power-crazy" politicians to "inflict chaos" and cause harm to the nation to fulfil their agendas.

In view of this, Phang urged Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to remove Nazri from his cabinet.

Remain calm, Chinese urged

As for the Chinese community, Phang urged them to remain calm and not to overreact to provocations.

"In fact, the best way to punish this bunch of unscrupulous politicians is to vote them out in the coming general election," he said.

Since late February, several Umno supreme council members, including Nazri, have criticised Kuok for allegedly bankrolling DAP and news portal The Malaysian Insight.

The allegations first surfaced in a series of articles on the Malaysia Todayportal operated by fugitive Raja Petra Kamarudin.

The articles have since been removed at the request of the Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

Although Kuok has denied funding DAP, the issue has led to Nazri and MCA engaging in a protracted verbal feud.

YB DATO’ SERI NAZRI ATTACKS ON KUOK PERHAPS REFLECTS THE RULING COALITION’S DESPERATION TO REMAIN IN POWER.

PETALING JAYA, 5 March 2018: Recent attacks against Malaysian tycoon Robert Kuok led by none other than UMNO stalwart cum Tourism and Culture Minister Dato Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, reflects the ruling coalition’s desperation to remain in power, at all cost.

Outspoken social activist Tan Sri Robert Phang reckoned that the hostile remarks levelled against Kuok based on some false allegations made by fugitive blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin (RPK), may be a ‘politically-motivated-and- premeditated’ ploy to whip up anti-Chinese sentiments ahead of the country’s general election.

In three articles published in his blog Malaysia Today between February 21 and 23, RPK has accused Kuok of trying to overthrow the BN government in the next general election by funding DAP, which both Kuok and DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang have categorically denied. Kuok is also currently looking into legal action against RPK.  Some political observers have described the attacks on Kuok as a piece of political opportunism to hit out at the Chinese-majority opposition DAP and stoke Malay fears of a Chinese takeover.

In his follow-up statement issued today, Phang who is also a founder and chairman of the Social Care Foundation, said the recent attempt by Nazri trying to pit one community against another showed that some political leaders in the ruling coalition have lost their moral compass in their desperation to remain in power.  “This (move of using Kuok to whip up anti-Chinese sentiments) is a very irresponsible, dangerous and despicable move that should be downright denounced by each and every right-thinking and peace-loving Malaysian, regardless of one’s race and religious background.

“It has become even more urgent now that we, Malaysians of all races, must unite against those power-crazy politicians who have no qualms to inflict chaos and serious harms to the nation and the people, in order to achieve their selfish agendas,” he asserted.  He also advised the Chinese community, the leaders especially, to remain calm and not to overreact to the issue, so as not to fall into the entrapment of the perpetrators.  “In fact, the best way to punish this bunch of unscrupulous politicians is to vote them out in the coming general election,” he reiterated.

He went on to note that the subsequent ‘show of protest’ conveniently put up by various MCA leaders against Nazri, inevitably gave many an impression that the whole episode could be just another ‘good cop vs bad cop’ play act designed to portray MCA as the ‘protector and defender’ of the Chinese community.

   

Phang who is also a former Panel Commissioner of Malaysia Anti-Crime Commission and executive council member of the Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation also said he felt sorry for Kuok that he had to endure such an unnecessary-and-outrageous attack by BN leaders, close to labeling him as a traitor, when the whole world recognized his enormous contributions to Malaysia, through his many business ventures that undeniably helped create jobs for Malay­sians and promote growth in local industries.

Meanwhile, Phang also urged civil society organizations (CSOs) in the country to come out in full force to state their disapproval against such malicious move of using Kuok to fan racial sentiment.  “In fact, we Malaysians of all races, should put on record that we shall hold Nazri responsible should there be any social unrest in the country due to this event. It’s puzzling that Nazri’s reason for not apologizing was because he relied on the fugitive blogger’s comments, which Kuok had categorically denied and in the midst of looking into initiating legal action against the said blog.

“It’s further confusing because Nazri has chosen to assume that the blogger’s comments were the truth when BN has been lamenting that fake news are rampant in the social media. In the past, the same blogger was accused by BN for blowing up faked news. How can the same blogger be trusted when he was accused otherwise in the past?” said Phang. He nonetheless believes under the circumstances, majority of the right-thinking Malaysian would like to ensure that Malaysia is a beautiful place to live with lasting harmony amongst all the races.

He also cited the famous quote by Roman Statesman, Marcus Tullius Cicero – that “A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.” to describe those in the corridors of power who are willing to pawn the nation and the people, in order to achieve their political agenda.

Cicero was quoted to have said during one of his speeches in the Roman Senate: “A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."

“Nazri, stop all your nonsense and kurang ajar attitude or you will have to pay for the price.  If you do not apologize, for sure BN is going to lose more seats.  Can you afford to bear the responsibility? Perhaps our able Prime Minister should be seen to be doing the right thing in a more convincing way this time, such as removing this ‘loose cannon’ from the Cabinet and stripping him of his ministerial post. I believe many right-thinking Malaysians would also agree with me that we should not have a thuggish character as our Minister of Tourism and Culture,” he concluded.

Where are your balls, Nazri?

My mum used to say, “If you call someone idiot, you are a bigger idiot.”

That was the first thing that came to my mind upon hearing Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz call billionaire Robert Kuok ‘pondan’ (effeminate).

As mind-blowing, jaw-dropping and eye-rolling as it was for me to hear a leader like Nazri degrading someone much senior to him, forgetting all the calls to practice a lifestyle full of sopan santun (politeness), budi bahasa (manners) and hormat-menghormati (respect) which the Malay culture is so rich in, I have to say it was equally funny as well.

For those living underneath the tempurung (coconut shell), having no clue of what’s this all about - well, it all began when Raja Petra Kamaruddin accused Kuok of funding DAP to topple BN in the forthcoming general election on his blog, Malaysia Today.

Kuok (photo) is a 94-year-old Malaysian who resides in Hong Kong, minding his own business and spending his own wealth in his own ways.

For Nazri to lash out at the senior tycoon, demanding that he stops being a coward with no balls and returns to Malaysia to face the government, while sitting comfortably in his air-conditioned office is, I must say, quite an “aiyoh kadavule” (Oh, my God) moment.

Who is actually 'ball-less'?

Seriously, if Nazri has any balls, shouldn’t he be the one to catch the first flight to Hong Kong and set an appointment to meet this so-called BN-made tycoon and ask him why he has become a kacang lupakan kulit (ungrateful)?

On second thought, it is always easier to have a laser mouth spurting out saliva as the cameras click away, rather than actually making an effort to demand an explanation (that is, if someone was really seeking an explanation).

But then again, if you think about it, Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad was also “created” by BN. So were Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin, Bersatu vice-president Mukhriz Mahathir, former international trade and industry minister Rafidah Aziz and many others who are bashing BN in recent times. Why not call them pondan and ayam betina as well, dear ballsy dude? They are, after all, living right here in Malaysia.

The truth is, it is the government’s role to develop the country. As the elected party, BN only did what it was supposed to do (while at the same time doing the things it was not meant to do as well. But let’s save that for another day). And to take credit for the success of every single Malaysian champion sounds a little too arrogant to me, don’t you think?

If that is the case, shouldn’t BN also be held responsible for every Malaysian who failed to create wealth, especially those who are still struggling to make ends meet?

Is Nazri an ayam betina?

Anyhow, now that Kuok has denied the allegation that he funded DAP to topple the government, one would expect Nazri to have the balls to officially apologise for pulling his guns before checking the facts.

Sadly, not only is Nazri not sorry for the remark he has made, he even had the audacity to blame Kuok for not coming forward earlier to deny the allegations.

I guess my mum was right. Those who call others “ball-less” are the ones who are “ball-less”.

Poor Nazri. Perhaps he missed Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s call not too long ago to be mindful of fake news and stop believing every post and tweet circulating online.

“Do not make decisions based on lies, distorted facts and smears. Such claims can be debunked with a quick search of the facts,” Najib said last November.

I do hope Nazri takes his beloved Najib’s advice seriously in the future, instead of behaving like an ayam betina (hen) making too much noise for no reason at all.

YB DATUK SERI NAZRI – STOP BEING “KURANG AJAR”

“Don’t’ be a pondan (effeminate). Don’t’ be a hen (ayam betina) which hides behind the wall in Hong Kong”, the Padang Rengas MP was quoted as saying yesterday.

This quote purportedly came from you, a matured and experienced Politician.  This clearly will invite criticism that you are indeed very rude and/or “kurang ajar”.  Surely a man of your age with good education and fine background would not like to call a respectful and dignified well known worldwide Malaysian i.e. Tan Sri Robert Kuok a “Pondan” and “Ayam Betina”.  This indeed is not only “kurang ajar” but reflects your upbringing.

This is in fact never the culture of a Malaysian Malay.  Surely but truly among the fellow Malays countrymen will feel that with your quotation, you have insulted the culture of our right thinking Malay brothers and sisters.  You are not a hero but rather the opposite, a reckless and irresponsible animal but many of Malaysians will certainly like to see and witness the true colours of Nazri Aziz.  RESPECT BEGETS RESPECTS.  The learned “Sifu” always says, it is very difficult to wake up someone who pretends to sleep.

I salute YBhg Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew’s audacity and gumption to advise Nazri at the most appropriate time.  God bless Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew.  I am a firm believer that due respect must be given to the elders, especially to a fellow Malaysian who has contributed immensely towards the Nation building irrespective of color or creed.

Nazri, do not PATENT yourself as a “Kurang Ajar” person.  You have definitely damaged the integrity and dignity of Tan Sri Robert Kuok. I now call upon all the Chinese and right thinking Malaysians to rally and give your strongest support to Tan Sri Robert Kuok. 

If you do not feel sorry and apologize for your misdeed, Perhaps you will have to pay a heavy price for it – causing UMNO and BN to lose vital support from the Rakyat.
