Statement by Tan Sri Robert Phang


ALL Malaysians must unite to support the government against Indonesian demonstrators who attacked our embassy in Jakarta on Monday.Irrespective of race or religion, the actions of the Indonesians cannot be tolerated any Malaysia.We must respond without hesitation to defend our country’s image, integrity and sovereignity.The attack on our embassy is a direct threat to our sovereignity. As citizens, we must respond positively to defend our government and country.On Monday, the Benteng Demokrasi Rakyat (Bendera) demonstrators threw faeces into the compound of the Malaysian embassy in Jakarta.

MACC to meet MAS to discuss Tajudin case

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has sought a meeting with Malaysia Airlines (MAS) following its complaint to MACC's advisory board and the Parliamentary Special Committee on Corruption on the two police reports lodged against the airline's former chairman Tan Sri Tajudin Ramli.MAS' general manager for corporate services Dr Wafi Nazrin told The Malay Mail: "The MACC has sought a meeting with MAS, therefore, we are unable provide any further comments.

Latest TBH inquest video 'missing' from AG's website

Why were previous video recordings of the Teoh Beng Hock inquest uploaded on the website of the Attorney-General's Chambers, but not of the last session?Does this have anything to do with the less-than sterling performance of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) head of prosecution Abdul Razak Musa at the last hearing?Raising these questions today, DAP lawmaker Lim Lip Eng said the prosecution's failure to put up the video of the inquest proceedings of Aug 18 is an indication of its lack of neutrality.

PKFZ trial postponed over new papers

SHAH ALAM, Aug 25 — The defence won a delay today in the trial of former Port Klang Authority (PKA) general manager Datin Paduka OC Phang for criminal breach of trust involving RM254.85 million in the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) scandal as they have yet to go through new evidence submitted by the prosecution.
Judge Asmadi Hussin postponed the trial to October 26 following the defence’s request for more time to study the 246 new documents submitted yesterday and also because their representation was still under consideration.

MACC must do better

EMOTIONS are strong and passions are high in the ongoing Teoh Beng Hock inquest. While the truth of the matter is that the cause of the political aide’s death must be established, the fact is that many people have already made up their minds as to how the 30-year-old ended at the bottom of Plaza Masalam in Shah Alam after a marathon interrogation session by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).The battered image of the MACC continues to take a beating as a purported "suicide note" is revealed a year after his death – although the investigations are done by the police.

Pornthip: Investigator didn't follow protocol on 'note'

Thai pathologist Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand today testified that, in the event of a crime scene investigation, any notes found should be immediately sent for forensic examination.Questioned during the inquest into the death of DAP political aide Teoh Beng Hock, she said this is the “protocol for investigations into death, especially for suicide”.
