MACC sets up taskforce to track donors of RTD event

The Negeri Sembilan chapter of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has established a taskforce to identify all donors of the Negeri Sembilan Road Transport Department (RTD) "get-together" that did not take place. Its director Hishamuddin Hashim said the taskforce was also formed to assist the investigation in the case.

"Those concerned or with information on the matter are requested to contact the MACC officer Pauzi Mohamad Noor at 019-6143321 or 06-7625446 or come to the MACC state office here," he told Bernama in Seremban today.

Yesterday, the Negeri Sembilan MACC arrested five people including two officers of the RTD for allegedly misusing state funds of RM660,000 collected from individuals and companies to organise a get-together that did not take place. All of them had been remanded until Nov 18 to assist in the investigation.

The suspects were believed to have raised the funds between June and October this year by using the state's RTD Sports and Welfare Club account.MACC's investigation, however, found a large amount of the money collected had been withdrawn from the club's account in stages and was distributed among the suspects.

Hishammuddin said they were in the midst of tracking down several other civilians who might be involved with the officers concerned."We are made to understand that several cheques have not been included in the club's accounts for the event, "he said.
