POLITICAL TOPSY-TURVY SITUATION IN MALAYSIA

 18th December 2020.
 PRESS STATEMENT BY:-
TAN SRI DATUK ROBERT PHANG MIOW SIN.
JUSTICE OF THE PEACE.
CHAIRMAN – SOCIAL CARE FOUNDATION

Malaysia's decline and slipping down the ladder from a once key destination for foreign investors among ASEAN countries should be a cause for concern by the Government of the day.  And by all other stakeholders as well as Malaysians as a whole. To top it up, the Fitch Ratings' downgrading of Malaysia's credit rating from "A" to "BBB+" will have an adverse impact going forward into the New Year and in the near future.

Why are we after years of enjoying the status as among the “darlings” for trade and investments and good ratings now on a banana skin path?   The latest rankings show that  Malaysia has fallen behind Vietnam and certainly Thailand in ASEAN.  People who manage our economy and the corridors of power must ask this question and do whatever it takes to put the country back on track.

It’s obvious that the seemingly endless political upheavals in the country are taking its toll on the economy and all of us.  And certainly aggravated by the Covid-19 pandemic.    We have seen before our eyes throughout this pandemic year, instead of acting responsibly to help mitigate the devastating impact, many politicians from both sides of the political divide are taking the country further South.  And on their business as usual mode of causing political instability.

While the nation is engrossed in trying its level best to flatten the Covid-19 curve, most, unfortunately, Sabah once again triggered another round of nothing short of a political pandemic when the State election had to be held in September just to accommodate the whims and fancies of some power-crazy politicians.  As we all know, this then led to many new clusters of Covid-19 infections.  Is it too much for all right-thinking veteran Malaysians like myself and my fellow citizens to ask our quarrelsome politicians to stop their antics and further erosion of international confidence in our nation?

I have been personally receiving queries from some major potential business organisations from China, for example, about their readiness to invest in a solid way in Malaysia. And they are waiting for signs of political stability and stronger corporate governance as pre-conditions to do so.  I appeal to all to close ranks in these most challenging times and to put the interests of the nation and the rakyat first and above selfish interests.

WHERE ARE YOU JHO LOW ???

18th November 2020.

PRESS STATEMENT BY:-
TAN SRI DATUK ROBERT PHANG MIOW SIN.
JUSTICE OF THE PEACE.
CHAIRMAN – SOCIAL CARE FOUNDATION

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WHERE ARE YOU JHO LOW ???

The Nation wonders where is the fugitive Jho Low? This has been coming from all corners of the Nation and is on every Rakyat’s mind. We have heard that IGP Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador repeatedly said that Jho Low where about is known to him and continuing the pursuit of apprehending him through IGP’s connections.

Please allow me, our IGP by nature is a very good “DILIGENT GENTLEMAN”. I have known him since he was a DSP in charge of the Serandah District. He is down to earth PDRM Officer except he has a soft spot when too many questions of the same nature are thrown at him. Surely but truly the apprehending and capture of Jho Low is IGP’s top priority for the Nation concerned.

Knowing IGP for the past twenty (20) years, allow me to sincerely extend my suggestion to IGP that IGP does not need to explain in detail regarding the whereabouts of Jho Low and his conviction to bring him back. I borrow the famous two (2) words from our beloved YAB PM Tan Sri Muhyiddin – “:DIAM DIAM”. Just bring Jho Low back to Malaysia.

I appeal to our Nation that our IGP is a diligent, intelligent and sincere hardworking PDRM Officer. We must work together to support him in action. If we have any material information on Jho Low, please forward to our IGP to complete his mission.

YDH IGP Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador, you can be rest assured, majority of the Nation is behind you including MY HUMBLE SELF. I will continue to pray for your good health and well-being. Please remain vigilant in discharging this most challenging of duties at this trying times. Lastly, I appeal the Nation prays for you

God bless YDH IGP and PDRM.

Any appointment, possibly soon!!!!

YBHG TAN SRI DR NOOR HASHIM – KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND MOVE ON

18th November 2020.

PRESS STATEMENT BY:-
TAN SRI DATUK ROBERT PHANG MIOW SIN.
JUSTICE OF THE PEACE.
CHAIRMAN – SOCIAL CARE FOUNDATION

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

YBHG TAN SRI DR NOOR HISHAM – KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND MOVE ON

Although the Bintulu MP Tiong King Sing has apologized but the scenario has left a tale for Malaysians to digest and understand. All respective Frontliners must be respected and supported wholeheartedly. They are doing their very best to help flatten the curve, regardless of their own safety and well-being.

Allow me to say that the Health Director General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham as a Muslim has accepted that death can happen anytime and anywhere. Therefore this confirms Tan Sri’s sole interest to handle the cases of infection. These are the words uttered by Tan Sri when asked by the Bintulu MP that Tan Sri has not visited Sabah to monitor Covid-19 operations there. According it was confirmed that Tan Sri did visit the Borneo state in late August to witness first hand, the preparation by MOH for the state election.

The story to learn is when you are an MP or YAB PM, when dealing with the Rakyat, please bear in mind, facts and ONLY FACTS are important, which also matters the most. This should be highly regarded in whatever position you are holding. Everyone has a great amount of self-respect, please do not insult others. I hope this chapter is finally closed.

It is better late than never, Heartiest Congratulations to Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham for his recent conferment of Tan Sri title for your selfless devotion and service to the Nation. Congratulations Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham and Move On. You are doing a good job. The Nation will continue to pray for your good health, longevity and well-being.

Again, Thank you Tan Sri for your selfless services. For your information, I also concur that Bintulu MP Tiong King Sin should apologize in the Parliament.

Old Political Opportunists

22nd September 2020.
PRESS STATEMENT BY:-
TAN SRI DATUK ROBERT PHANG MIOW SIN.
JUSTICE OF THE PEACE.
CHAIRMAN – SOCIAL CARE FOUNDATION

POLITICS IN SABAH

Old Political Opportunists.

They express their intention to contest in the forthcoming Sabah state election. There are many young capable, professional, qualified and knowledgeable who have since returned to Sabah to help promote growth, stability and improve the state of Sabah.  The voters of Sabah must be alert plus  thoughtful to cast your only divine vote to elect the right and correct candidates, ever ready to serve and help to govern the management of Sabah economy, tourism etc.

I think it is time for the majority of Sabahans to surely consider to vote them in so that they can contribute their chance to bring in more growth to Sabah. These group of people can do so because they are not tainted Sabahans,  with new ideas to serve.  Sabahan must consider these people.

On the other hand, Sabah must reject the so-called past political leaders to whom they have waited five years once again, trying to mislead Sabahans.  Doing nothing during when they should have participated to help all efforts to build up Sabah’s economy.  Therefore this group of people in Chinese term is better known as “LAU SEE FUT” – “OLD FOX”.  A word of advice, all these “ LAU SEE FUT” or former discarded politicians, don’t you think it is time for you to come forward to support, guide and advise the younger professional Sabahans to build-up Sabah instead of jumping in to participate in the state election fight selfishly.

Again a word of advice, do not kill the promising state of Sabah.  Sabah for Sabahans are for those young professionals and qualified Sabahans to sincerely have a chance to participate in the growth and building up of Sabah.  Only then, you are qualified to say “SABAH FOR SABAHANS”.

Maybe it is good to remember that Sabah is also a component party of great Malaysia.  To “LAU SEE FUT” you may be termed as an old obsolete motorbike etc,  pls put this all behind – let the younger generation to pick their own mode of transport.  These all discarded politicians and opportunists, only come out when the election is around.  I advise this old card to have a good retirement and take care of your families and have healthy lives.  The coming state election may the Sabahans vote with a clear conscience and be guided with wisdom from Almighty God.

Sabah for Sabahans, it can be a slogan but at the same time, wake up people to wonder isn’t Sabah part of Malaysia?  Be careful, we should not divide and rule.  This will be the worst scenario for Malaysia.

Vote scandal-free candidates, ex-MACC adviser tells Sabah voters

KUALA LUMPUR: A former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) adviser has urged Sabahans to vote for candidates who are “scandal-free” in the Sept 26 state election.

Robert Phang, who used to serve on MACC’s advisory council, said he pitied Sabahans as political parties on both sides were offering individuals facing criminal charges as candidates.

“Any ordinary, righteous-thinking person will feel ‘funny’ that those who are facing trial can be picked to stand for election,” said Phang, who is a social activist.

“Is Sabah so bankrupt of talent that there are no other candidates? Voters should clip the wings of such candidates by not voting for them regardless of which party they represent,” he said.

Parties on both sides of the political fence are fielding some candidates who are facing trial for corruption.

Phang also said he had concerns about money politics and urged the authorities to look into this as election campaigning swings into full gear.

“Parties should also contest ethically and not use the campaigning period as a cover for making baseless allegations.

“Regardless of who you are or who your opponent is, if you have evidence of any wrongdoing, report it to the authorities.”

He was commenting on allegations made by Warisan president Shafie Apdal against former Sabah chief minister Musa Aman and his brother Anifah.

During campaigning, Shafie reportedly alleged that Musa and Anifah had awarded some 700,000 acres of forest reserve to “friends and family”.

Anifah, a former foreign minister, has said he will be taking legal action against Shafie over the allegations.

Sabahans, Phang said, now had the chance to choose their representatives and should support credible candidates rather than just vote for parties.

“We have seen changes in the government at the federal and state level since the 14th general election.

“The public must realise the power of their vote, they can put good people in power. On both sides, there are good and bad, vote for those who have a good track record.”

POLITICS IN SABAH

 15th September 2020.

PRESS STATEMENT BY:-
TAN SRI DATUK ROBERT PHANG MIOW SIN.
JUSTICE OF THE PEACE.
CHAIRMAN – SOCIAL CARE FOUNDATION

Many righteous Malaysians have been amused.  It is indeed very strange to note that the slogan “SABAH FOR SABAHANS’ is very confusing and it should be put on test that they are still very much divided on the racism issue.

Sabah for Sabahans actually will deviate the two principal philosophies of the right thinking Malaysians.  Therefore it is very strange that after so many years the Sabahan leaders’ are supporting Sabah for Sabahans.  This is truly absurd and frightening.  Many of Malaysian will ask, are we not the Malaysian only 1 Malaysian?  No such thing – Sabah for Sabahans, where the leader keep on shouting. Please wake up!!!

Taking a little deep into the current scenario in Sabah we need to note that Tan Sri Musa Aman has been left out of the current list of candidates in the forthcoming General Election in Sabah.  Elsewhere, take note that his brother Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, leader of Parti Cinta Sabah is going all out this time and promote his party in Sabah.  Which is quite a shocking factor because it will create that the two (2) Aman brothers are not together to participate in the General Election, good sign and perhaps the two (2) brothers do not want to be seen or misconstrued as to conquer and control Sabah.

In the political arena much has been said about Tan Sri Musa Aman, then the time he has created a good impression by not participating this time – Healthy Sign.  In this context I believe many Sabahans will remember when it was ruled by the late Tun Mustapha, there was one (1) West Malaysian by the name of Syed Kechik who was very popular in Sabah then, political arena – supporting, assisting and helping Tun Mustapha.  Are we having the same situation now when it has been said that Shafie Apdal has been assisted with a “CHINESE” Sabahan in running and managing the Administration and Governance of Sabah.

It is an open secret in Sabah that once the “CHINESE” Syed Kechik in the current situation “ Sabah for Sabahans”  this type of service is not welcome by Sabah and Sabahans.  It is an open fact there are many interested individuals would like to participate – good sign – interest and concern. Bad sign – whether the shown concern of the welfare and governance of Malaysia in Sabah is genuine. The writer is equally concerned what roll can the so called political leaders of Sabah can perform.  A lot of Sabahans support Tan Sri Musa Aman in the race.

I believe many Sabahans remember Tan Sri Datuk Chong Kah Kiat during his term as Chief Minister, Tan Sri Datuk Chong Kah Kiat before becoming CM was only a minister in PM’s Department.  I am sure many in Sabah still remember him playing politics in Sabah  - the Goddess Majoo statue issue.

Surprisingly the current YAB PM has never appeared to duly support the incumbent Shafie Apdal.  In fact he has conceded what message does it concern – leave it to Sabahans to decide.

YAB PM has shown to be very busy for sure, we still have to be vigilant and pray to Almighty God to grant good health and longevity to continue to lead Sabah as a whole.  We must appreciate YAB PM determination to ensure Sabah will perform well under the current Federal Government regime.

Where is Tan Sri Musa Aman, many wonder with his 15 years of Sabah rule.  Statue – he should come out to lead Sabah back to normal statue – Question, who else can have better qualifications than Musa???

Chong Kah Kiat – Do not waste time on him. Thank You.

‘SABAH FOR SABAHANS” – people who pray in the team spirit of Malaysia – PLESE STOP DO NOT CONTINUE THE PARAPHASE – SABAH FOR SABAHANS – THIS IS NOT HEALTHY.

River pollution: Agong spoken and expressed disappointment, decrees heavier penalties

GREETINGS,

DAULAT TUANKU AND RAJA PERMAISURI !!!!!

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah today described the Sungai Gong water pollution incident which caused a major water disruption in the Klang Valley as an irresponsible action that harmed to the people.

While expressing his disappointment over the incident, His Majesty decreed that those involved in causing the pollution be taken to court and, if convicted, be punished with heavier penalties.

“Sultan Abdullah who has been following the development of the incident from the first day of the unscheduled water disruption is really concerned about the grievances and burden of the people facing the problem.

“His Majesty has also expressed sympathy to the people who had to queue up to get a pail of water every time the water supply is disrupted,” Comptroller of the Royal Household of Istana Negara Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said in a statement today.

According to him, Sultan Abdullah said this during an audience granted to the Environment and Water Minister Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man at Istana Negara.

His Majesty said the pollution of Sungai Gong was a repeated case which not only affected the people but also the local economy as many businesses had to cease operations due to the unscheduled water disruption.

The pollution incident at Sungai Gong, which began last Thursday, had caused 1.2 million Air Selangor consumer accounts and approximately five million users in seven regions in the Klang Valley to suffer an unscheduled water supply disruption.

Earlier, media reports said that the authorities had identified a factory as the source of pollution which forced four water treatment plants in Selangor to stop their operations.

The water supply disruption was not the first experienced by residents in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur as a similar incident had occurred before the implementation of the movement control order early this year.

Apart from stern actions, Sultan Abdullah also called on the authorities, especially the Environment and Water Ministry through the Department of Environment, to enhance monitoring and law enforcement to ensure such incident of river pollution would not recur.

“Sultan Abdullah also expressed support to the Selangor government’s action in ordering the factory owner to demolish the building structure after the land used for heavy machinery maintenance work was found to not have planning approval from the local authority,” Ahmad Fadil added.

He said the King also expressed appreciation to Air Selangor and the relevant government agencies for their swift action to restore the water supply to affected areas.

Ahmad Fadil said the King also decreed for environmental care to be given focus by the authorities, especially in the governance and management of rivers, as well as in increasing awareness among the people.

The love and care for the environment should be inculcated among the people by providing early education to children and by organising programmes to clean public areas, he added

MALAYSIA BADLY NEEDS ANTI-HOPPING LAW

 20TH August 2020.

PRESS STATEMENT BY:-
TAN SRI DATUK ROBERT PHANG MIOW SIN.
JUSTICE OF THE PEACE.
CHAIRMAN – SOCIAL CARE FOUNDATION

If there is one law that the Malaysian Parliament badly needs to pass at the earliest possible opportunity, it's the Anti-Hopping law.

This piece of legislation that outlaws once and for all, our Yang Berhormat or elected representatives at the Dewan Rakyat and State Legislative Assemblies from jumping from one party to another that results in a change of government in total betrayal of the people's mandate made via general or state elections.

We have seen two glaring examples of this during this current year when the Pakatan Harapan coalition that was elected with a very clear majority just over two years ago was toppled in this unceremonious manner.  This was followed by the recent dissolution of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly thus paving the way for another state election now fixed for Sept. 26.

Our elected representatives are called The Honourables or Yang Berhormat and the Rakyat who elected them expect nothing short of them to honour their trust and the pledge they took upon being elected.  But just look at the political turmoils that ensued and the two political coups mentioned above could not come at a worse time for the nation when our focus and resources were devoted to containing the Covid-19 pandemic.

Needless to say, the dire economic and financial ramifications of the pandemic where cross-sections the rakyat were faced with losing their jobs and businesses as well as hardly able to put food on the table.  And yet these political frogs as they are called didn't give a damn and as a result, the electorate in Sabah are forced to go to the polls once again while the Federal government now only has a wafer-thin majority in Parliament, giving rise to speculations of a snap general election.

Elections are very expensive affairs, particularly so when the nation like the rest of the social is going through strict health protocols due to the pandemic, such as physical distancing and wearing of face masks.  Not to mention large crowds that could spark new waves of infection.

The coming Sabah election is expected to cost RM165 million while the snap GE15 if held, is estimated at RM1.2 billion.  The nation could hardly afford to spend on these wasteful expenditures that would have been totally unnecessary and avoidable had the people's mandate not been overturned by these politicians.

So I would urge that this Anti-Hopping law be put in place with utmost urgency and top priority so as not to render elections meaningless and for Malaysia not to be a laughing stock.

IJN receives medical equipment worth over RM208,000 for paediatric heart surgeries

THE National Heart Institute (IJN) has received a boost in its healthcare services from a generous donation of surgical instruments by the Social Care Foundation worth RM208,233.

The foundation recently handed over thoracotomy, micro clamps, sternal closure devices, as well as specialised instruments used in paediatric heart surgeries and chest reopening procedures to IJN.

The provision of the instruments will ease the burden of treatment costs, enabling IJN to deliver care to even more children suffering from heart disease.

IJN CEO Datuk Dr Aizai Azan Abdul Rahim said the foundation’s contribution will help surgeons carry out their work effectively.

“We perform thousands of surgeries every year, so the provision of these additional instruments will go a long way in helping our surgeons effectively and safely manage this caseload.

“In turn, this means we can continue to maintain good outcomes for our patients, particularly our young paediatric patients. We want to ensure that children living with heart disease are able to lead a normal life and enjoy their childhood as much as they can,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Social Care Foundation chairman Tan Sri Robert Phang (picture) said he had always been driven to help the sick and needy, having donated towards life-saving treatment for many heart patients in the past two decades.

He added that he has a soft spot for paediatric patients in particular, having come across many child patients waiting for treatment with only their caregivers for company.

“Unfortunately, most of them are unwell and will be restless while waiting for their treatment, more so those suffering from paediatric and congenital heart diseases.

“In this specific area, it would be ideal for us to have proper medical equipment and medicine for the children to get well soon,” he said.

He also said it is undeniable that the wellbeing of the future generation is a priority and he also appealed to all fellow Malaysians to assist those who are in need. IJN is among the best medical centres for cardiovascular and thoracic care in Malaysia and the region, keeping abreast with the latest medical advances.

The heart specialist institution has paved the way by creating many “firsts” for cardiovascular and thoracic care in the country, namely the first in South-East Asia to introduce AXXESS Stent to treat bifurcation lesions and the first in Asia to introduce Renal Denervation — a radio frequency ablation procedure to treat patients with resistant hypertension.

Pray for PM's good health, says social activist Robert Phang

KUALA LUMPUR, May 23 --  A prominent social activist today called on Malaysians to pray for the good health of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is now undergoing a 14-day self-quarantine after an officer who attended his post-Cabinet meeting on Wednesday tested positive for Covid-19.

"I call on Malaysians to sincerely and seriously pray for the good health and well-being of our prime minister so that he be given strength and the necessary capability to carry out his heavy responsibilities," said Tan Sri Robert Phang (right), the chairman of the Social Care Foundation.

A statement from the Prime Minister's Office said that Muhyiddin had tested negative for Covid-19 but has to be in self-quarantine at home for two weeks beginning yesterday.

"Muhyiddin is a tested leader for all Malaysians right from early in his political career as Menteri Besar of Johor...," Phang said.

He praised Muhyiddin as a leader with patience "who listens to the voice of the rakyat".

"I appeal to fellow Malaysians to support our prime minister to move the country forward.

We the rakyat have to be fair and kind in showing our support.

"I wish Muhyiddin and his family Selamat Hari Raya , " Phang said
