Its president Shahrul Nizam Yunos said the gathering themed “1Rakyat 1Integriti”, was to express support for MACC to carry out its responsibility without fear and without bowing to pressure from any quarters.“We will hold the programme nationwide from the end of this month until June with the climax in July,” he told reporters after handing over a memorandum expressing support for the MACC in Putrajaya today. The memorandum was received by MACC director of investigations Mustafar Ali.Several PPPRM members came to the MACC office here, calling out “Hidup SPRM” (Long Live MACC) and “Hapuskan Rasuah” (Eradicate Corruption) and carrying banners which expressed full support for and trust in the MACC’s leadership and staff. The association has a membership of 13,000.
On the call by some quarters for MACC chief commissioner Abu Kassim Mohamed to quit his post, Shahrul Nizam said an individual fighting corruption should not be told to do so.“Those who made the call should instead look at themselves in the mirror.“Malaysians depend on the MACC to curb corruption. If the head (of MACC) bows to pressure and resigns from his post, what is left for the people to combat corruption?” he said.
