KUALA
LUMPUR, May 23 -- A prominent social activist today called on
Malaysians to pray for the good health of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin
Yassin, who is now undergoing a 14-day self-quarantine after an officer who
attended his post-Cabinet meeting on Wednesday tested positive for Covid-19.
"I call
on Malaysians to sincerely and seriously pray for the good health and
well-being of our prime minister so that he be given strength and the necessary
capability to carry out his heavy responsibilities," said Tan Sri Robert
Phang (right), the chairman of the Social Care Foundation.
A statement
from the Prime Minister's Office said that Muhyiddin had tested
negative for Covid-19 but has to be in self-quarantine at home for two weeks
beginning yesterday.
"Muhyiddin
is a tested leader for all Malaysians right from early in his political career
as Menteri Besar of Johor...," Phang said.
He
praised Muhyiddin as a leader with patience "who listens to the voice of
the rakyat".
"I
appeal to fellow Malaysians to support our prime minister to move the country
forward.
We the rakyat have to be fair and kind in showing our support.
"I wish Muhyiddin and his family Selamat Hari Raya , " Phang said
