IS UMNO LEADERS SPLITTING INTO 2 DIVISION / NAMELY FOR AND AGAINST. INTERESTING???

Please enhance the Rakyat on the news that's being currently viralled in the social media that the UMNO leadership at its recent Supreme Council meeting has urged Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to seek an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for royal assent to dissolve Parliament to pave the way for the 15th general election.

But according to the same news report, a majority of Supreme Council members including Ismail Sabri and another party vice president voted against the move initiated by UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.  Since UMNO has so far not issued a denial on the report, it is logical to conclude that the UMNO leadership had indeed taken such a move and this is most depressing news to the nation and the Rakyat.

It once again shows the damage that politicians could do to satisfy their selfish agenda and that they are the least concerned about the ensuing political uncertainty and instability that could result from their actions.  If our Members of Parliament do care to pause for a moment and reflect on the oath of office they had taken as lawmakers, they certainly would realize how they have betrayed the trust and the mandate that the electorate had delivered.  As lawmakers, the least that the rakyat expect them to do is to act responsibly instead of creating instability that at the end of the day, the entire nation would have to pay a high price in terms of the social and economic costs.

Already, Malaysia is fast losing out our once enviable position as an attractive country for foreign investors to other Asean partners like Vietnam and Indonesia. These past three years that saw Malaysia having four prime ministers shows the political pandemic that we are in.

On another score, I am of the opinion that the Malaysian Parliament is currently loaded with many MPs who have overstayed and in this regard, parties to which they belong to should make a conscious commitment to replace them with fresh faces come to the next general election.  As for GE15, with the Covid-19 still very much threatening both lives and livelihoods, I urge the Prime Minister to reject any move by the UMNO leadership towards a snap general election.

I have full confidence that he would do so in the national interest.
