Sex Take: Robert Phang Says No Need to Form RCI

KUALA LUMPUR, 24 MARCH, 2011: Tan Sri Robert Phang who previously announced to offer RM100,000 reward to anyone who is able to provide information leading to the arrest and conviction of one Datuk T’ for rumor mongering change has put his reward on halt since the identity of “Datuk T” has emerged yesterday.

“Since they (Tan Sri Rahim Tamby Chik, Datuk Shazryl Eskay Abdullah and Datuk Shuib Lazim) had already confessed that they are Datuk T, then the offer is a gone case,” Phang said in a press conference held at Hotel Maya today.

Phang, however, added that if the police have identified that the trio who had exposed the sex video which allegedly featured a top Opposition leader are not the real identities behind the name ‘Datuk T’ then he will reoffer the reward money.“But if the police say that the trio is not the real 'Datuk T', then the offer is on again.”

According to Phang, his decision to offer the reward came after he realized that rumor mongering is detrimental to the welfare and reputation of Malaysia.“It absolutely negates healthy social development for Malaysia’s progress towards developed nation status”, said Phang.Phang also rejects the need to form a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) for this case saying that police can handle the investigation on their own.

“I believed the PDRM under the administration of Kuala Lumpur Police Chief will handle the investigation with utmost transparency.”Phang also called for the police task force which had been formed to investigate the sex video without any favor of fear in order to find the real guilty party and restore justice in the country.

He also suggested that the best person who should be called to testify would be Eskay considering he admitted that he was in the hotel room where the event took place.“He should testify, and he is the best person to do it considering his alibi.”

Asked on who he thinks would benefit the most from the issue, Phang said that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim would reap the most from it since people will again sympathize with the Opposition leader considering the previous allegations that had been thrown against him.

Phang also applaud the trio for emerging and admitting that they were the one behind this whole saga.“What they had done is noble. To come out from the closet and admit they doings.”On his ongoing effort to find the anonymous blogger who had alleged him of bribery recently, he asked them to emulate the trio by coming out to speak the truth.
